Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is an extremely popular facial surgical procedure. Some people are not happy with the shape of their nose and wish to have it changed. Injuries and trauma can distort the nose. The nasal appearance can also change with the aging process. Rhinoplasty can be beneficial for patients who suffer from difficulty breathing through their nose. Rhinoplasty is a procedure that helps restore confidence in ones’ appearance.
The aesthetic benefits of rhinoplasty are obvious. The nose is the central focus of the face and improvement in the contour and form of the nose can help to frame the eyes and improve the harmony of the upper, mid, and lower face. Dr. Cynthia M. Gregg approaches rhinoplasty with the philosophy that it requires meticulous attention to both artful form and sound structure. In addition to improving the appearance of the nose and restoring facial harmony, a rhinoplasty can improve nasal breathing. When combined with a septoplasty, a deviated septum may also be corrected, resulting in improved nasal function.
Dr. Cynthia M. Gregg uses computer imaging to simulate a view of the potential results of a rhinoplasty procedure with each patient. With board certification in both facial plastic surgery and otolaryngology-head & neck surgery, Dr. Cynthia M. Gregg is a sought-after surgeon for men and women in Cary, Raleigh, the surrounding areas of North Carolina and across the nation desiring rhinoplasty surgery.
Rhinoplasty takes approximately 2-4 hours, depending on the extent of surgery. A small splint will be placed on the nose for 5-6 days after surgery. No packing is placed inside the nose.
In the immediate days after surgery, patients may experience bruising and minor swelling of the nose and the area below the eyes. These side effects usually subside within two weeks. Patients usually have minimal downtime of 1-2 weeks before returning to work or school.
During a consultation with Dr. Cynthia M. Gregg, she can discuss the proper approach to Rhinoplasty surgery for your specific goals.
