Cindy Wu, MD, FACS

Breast & Body Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Cindy Wu received her medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. She then completed a five-year general surgery residency at the University of Chicago, followed by a three-year plastic surgery residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. From there, she completed a one year Aesthetic and Breast Fellowship with world-renowned reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon, Dr. James C. Grotting in Birmingham, Alabama. After working as an Assistant Professor in Plastic Surgery at the University of North Carolina, she joined CYNTHIA GREGG MD, FACE & BODY SPECIALISTS in Cary, North Carolina.

Dr. Wu is board certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, an active member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Plastic Surgery Research Council, and the Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Dr. Cindy Wu specializes in aesthetic and breast and body surgery. Her surgical services include breast augmentation, reduction, lift, implant-based reconstruction. She also performs abdominoplasty, liposuction, body contouring, fat grafting, and facial surgery. Her non-surgical services include facial rejuvenation with lasers, neuromodulators, and fillers. She has been actively involved in research during all phases of her training. More recently has focused on aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery, social media and patient preferences in aesthetic surgery, and laser therapies.

Dr. Cindy Wu serves as the lead Next Generation Editor for the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. She is an active member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and serves as a scientific research committee member for the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation. Also, she is an active member of the American Society for Plastic Surgeons, the Plastic Surgery Research Council, and the Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Dr. Cindy Wu is the recipient of two Plastic Surgery Foundation Pilot Research Grants for her research in patient preferences in aesthetic surgery, and social media in aesthetic surgery. Her research team received the Best Reconstructive Paper Award for their work on laser therapy of hypertrophic burn scars.
