The Lumenis® Photofractional™ treatment is a complete skin rejuvenation solution, enabling your provider to offer you remarkable results on a range of skin aging concerns such as age and sun spots, fine lines, acne scars, uneven texture and skin tone. This unique rejuvenation technology combines two solutions, IPL® (Intense Pulsed Light) and ResurFX™ non-ablative skin resurfacing, so that skin tone, texture, and uneven skin pigment can be treated simultaneously.

With minimal downtime, long-lasting results and shortened treatment sessions, IPL® Photofractional™ is an exceptional treatment for rejuvenation of the in on the face hands, neck and chest.

How does it work?

By combining IPL® and ResurFX™ technologies, both skin pigmentation and fine lines can be treated simultaneously. Lumenis® IPL® technology removes both unwanted pigmentation and blood vessels from the skin, while the ResurFX™ fractional laser stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin fibers in the deeper layers of the skin. Stimulating new collagen production is the key to a more radiant, youthful looking skin. The advanced scanner delivers the laser beams in a precise manner with integrated cooling to ensure maximum comfort and safety. ResurFX™ typically requires only one pass over the skin per treatment session. This is a vast improvement over other forms of fractional lasers that require four to eight passes in each session. Your provider is able to customize your treatments specific to your individual skin concerns.

Is the Photofractional™ treatment painful?

Our office offers a topical anesthetic that may be applied before the treatment for comfort. We also offer a handheld Zimmer cooling device which allows the patient to direct chilled air to cool the skin during their treatment. With both of these measures, the discomfort is generally minimal.

What areas can be treated with Photofractional™?

Photofractional treatments can be performed on the skin of the face, neck, chest and hands.

When will I see results?

The Lumenis® Photofractional™ treatments work deep within your skin to stimulate collagen production, over a series of treatments. You will begin to see improvement in skin tone and pigmentation after just one treatment. The average is 3-6 treatments at monthly intervals for optimal and noticeable improvement in skin texture and fine lines. This could be more or less depending skin type, areas being treated and issues being addressed. Improvement continues for up to 6 months after the last treatment.

Immediately following the procedure you will experience some redness, swelling and a sunburned sensation. The heat and redness typically resolve within 1 to 2 hours. If swelling occurs it usually resolves within 3 days.

Call our office for a consultation to determine if this, or another of our laser treatments, is the best choice for your skin concerns. At your visit our clinical staff will discuss the best options for your desired aesthetic goals.
