Midface Lift
The area between your lower eyelids and your mouth is considered the midface. As you age, the effects of gravity, repeated muscle contraction, and lifestyle cause the skin, fat, and muscle in this region to move downwards. When this occurs, the cheeks begin to look saggy or flat, lower eyelids can become puffy or hollow, circles begin to appear under the eyes, and the lines between the nose and the corner of the mouth deepen.
Dr. Cynthia M. Gregg performs the midface lift to restore the natural curves and fullness in the cheeks by moving soft tissues back to a more youthful position. This restores cheek volume and establishes more youthful midface contours. The result will be a natural, revitalized appearance that doesn’t appear overdone or “pulled”.
When performed skillfully, a midface lift will deliver a natural but noticeable improvement. Dr. Cynthia M. Gregg frequently performs the midface lift with other surgeries, such as a lower face lift, eyelid surgery, or a browlift. However, for many patients, a midface lift can be performed alone.
As a skilled, experienced, double board certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Cynthia M. Gregg provides midface lift procedures for men and women in Cary, Raleigh, the surrounding areas of North Carolina, and across the nation. Dr. Cynthia M. Gregg prefers to use the endotine midface lift approach to midface suspension. The endotine midface suture device uses five small tissue tines to securely and gently grasp and elevate the cheek tissue to its restored position. Because there are no sutures, patients do not experience dimpling and the tissue is distributed evenly to improve the natural appearance of the procedure. The endotine gradually absorbs until it is completely gone.
After this procedure, patients may experience slight swelling or bruising, but the overall recovery lasts only a few weeks. It is recommended that initially patients keep their head elevated, and use a cold compress to reduce swelling.
A consultation with Dr. Cynthia M. Gregg will give you the opportunity to discuss all facial surgical procedures to learn which option(s) best address your aesthetic goals.
