Implant Removal - Revision Surgery
Women who have had breast implants in the past may want to have their implants removed for several reasons. Some women desire a different implant size or type, while others may have scar tissue around the implants, implant rupture, or no longer want to have implants altogether. Breast implant removal can be performed by itself, or in combination with other procedures.
Dr. Cindy Wu has tremendous experience with breast implant removal and revision surgery and will personalize your breast surgery to safely fit your aesthetic goals. Breast implant removal is performed in our fully accredited surgery center under IV sedation. The breast implant removal procedure by itself lasts approximately 30 minutes. After surgery, you will be placed in a support garment, which will be worn for the first two weeks. You may feel some pain or discomfort, but most patients are able to manage post-operative pain or discomfort with just a few days of pain medication. There are no lifting restrictions if you have implant removal only without other breast procedures. Patients usually return to work within the next day or two after surgery. The incision is usually located at a prior augmentation scar. This scar will continue to heal, and will become thinner and lighter in color at around 12-18 months.
Dr. Cindy Wu takes a vvery compassionate approach with women who have need for implant removal or revision breast surgery in Cary, Raleigh, the surrounding areas of North Carolina, and across the nation. She recognizes that it is often a stressful situation and makes the consultation and treatment process as comfortable as possible.
