There are investigations into counterfeit botulinum toxin injections in eleven states by the CDC, FDA, and state and local health departments.  Twenty-two people have had severe reactions after receiving these injections in non-healthcare settings such as spas and homes. The symptoms have ranged from double or blurry vision, difficulty swallowing or breathing, and droopy eyelids.
