/  Ask the Surgeon   /  Q. Do men come to your practice for aesthetic surgery?

A. Yes, we see many men; national statistics show that plastic surgery is becoming more popular with men as they want to enhance their appearance and restore confidence.

When it comes to body surgery, men often have diet and exercise-resistant areas of fat on their chest, abdomen, or torso (love handles) that are treated with liposuction. The results of liposuction are sculpting these areas to provide a more muscular trim appearance. Some men may have extra glandular (breast) tissue on their chest. Gynecomastia surgery is the gold standard treatment for this condition, which removes excess tissue and skin and results in a more masculine, flatter chest. Men with excess breast tissue and skin are often self-conscious about this condition, especially in gym, beach, pool, or intimate settings. Gynecomastia can be performed as a standalone procedure or with liposuction. Ideal candidates for body surgery are those within 10 pounds of their ideal body weight and otherwise healthy. My patients who undergo aesthetic body surgery report increased confidence and self-esteem.

Many men come to Dr. Gregg for facial surgery to appear more youthful, less tired, and more vibrant. The most popular surgeries for men are Blepharoplasty (upper and lower eyelids) and Rhinoplasty. We have seen an increase in men requesting facial surgery to restore confidence, feel competitive in the workplace, and look as good as they feel. Dr. Gregg recognizes that with male patients, she must tailor her surgical plan to ensure that the results align with masculine features to provide a natural-looking result that enhances the profile and creates facial balance. Our male patients report a boost in self-esteem, increased energy, and satisfaction from a subtle yet impactful enhancement of their appearance.

Dr. Gregg and I have the training and experience to understand the nuances required to achieve natural-looking results for our male patients. If you are considering face or body surgery to enhance your appearance, please schedule a discrete consultation to discuss your concerns and surgical options.
