/  Blog   /  Multi-Modality Approach for Optimal Results for Treating Skin Laxity

There are multiple contributing factors that all play together in how we age. For example, in our faces, we lose volume as facial fat pads atrophy and shift, and soft tissue (like muscles) falls due to gravity and loss of muscle tone. Additionally, our facial bones, the main foundation of our facial shape and contour, will eventually thin out and decrease. As the quality of our skin declines, we start to have more wrinkles and excess skin where it wasn’t before. On our bodies, these same events cause us to have sagging and lax skin in areas such as our neck, upper arms, and above the knees. For the body, you want to take a multi-modality approach to rejuvenate, smooth, and lift the sagging skin. By treating the laxity of the skin on our neck and extremities, along with treating facial laxity with dermal fillers, neuromodulators, ultrasound therapies, and skincare treatments, the appearance is improved all over so that you do not have a young, refreshed face and aged sagging neck or upper arms. Our Practice strives to provide natural-looking treatments that complement each other so that our patients look as young as they feel all over.

When we are looking at non-surgical body rejuvenation, injectable biostimulators (Sculptra® and Radiesse®) along with ultrasound therapy (Sofwave™) are an excellent multi-modality approach. These combined treatments help the body create new collagen and elastin, leading to tighter, more elastic, youthful-looking skin. The dual treatment protocol helps to address skin texture, tone, laxity, and overall appearance. Collagen and elastin serve as two main components of our skin makeup. Starting as early as our mid-20s, our collagen begins to break down, causing our skin to be less elastic and show early signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of tone. It is important to continue to replenish our collagen bank as we age.

Many of our facial rejuvenation patients want to improve the appearance of their neck and upper arms to reduce signs of aging. This is where the smoothing and lifting combination of Sofwave™ ultrasound therapy and Hyperdilute Radiesse® or Sculptra® biostimulators come into play. Our clinical providers are highly experienced with combining modalities to achieve the natural-looking results our patients desire.
