Fat Grafting

fat graftingFat grafting is a procedure in which fat is removed by liposuction from an unwanted area of the body (usually the tummy, love handles, or thighs), purified, then transferred to the desired body area such as the breast. The result is a fuller, softer, smoother contour after fat grafting. Fat grafting can be performed as a stand-alone procedure, or in addition to other procedures such as breast augmentation with implants, breast lift, breast reduction.

Dr. Cindy Wu performs fat grafting to the breast in our fully accredited surgery center under IV sedation or general anesthesia. The fat grafting procedure by itself lasts approximately 1-2 hours. After surgery, there will be a light dressing over your breasts, and a compression garment to support the abdomen after liposuction. You may feel some pain or discomfort, but most patients can manage post-operative pain or discomfort with just a few days of pain medication. We recommend that patients avoid compression on the fat grafted areas of the breast. Patients usually return to work within the next few days after surgery. The incisions are smaller than 0.5 cm and will become thinner and lighter in color at around 12-18 months.

As a fellowship trained aesthetic breast surgeon, Dr. Cindy Wu, commonly uses fat grafting in her breast surgeries with excellent outcomes for patients in Cary, Raleigh, the surrounding areas of North Carolina, and across the nation.  During a consultation, she can determine whether fat grafting is the optimum solution for your aesthetic goals.
